What can I say...

It started over a cup of tea, learning how to DJ on vinyl and meeting what would become my best friend at a milkshake shop.

Strap in, as this journey spanned almost 10 years, multiple events, a lot of hard lessons learned and ultimately shaped me into converting what was an innate creative desire into a way of life.

From student to sensei. Grand Unified Themes was my dojo and I was about to get beaten up, many, many times.

Hip-hop called, they're jealous...

After purchasing a set of turntables, I reached out to the DJ's DJ, The very talented, Max Elliot aka Macks

A combination of Vinyl and digital mixing led to our first hour long mix.

Logo design

As we were predominantly playing electronic dance music (specifically Jungle) we wanted a name that would encapsulate the feeling we got when we listened to the music we loved.

A feeling deep in our gut... our GUT?

A quick google search and some prior knowledge of theoretical physics brought up the "grand unified theory", where 3 fundamental forces combine into a single unified force at extremely high levels.

It was starting to shape itself.

After 4 years of successful events we eventually faced some backlash regarding appropriation.

As this was an act of pure ignorance, we adapted. Taking this feedback in mind I developed the updated logo to hold the resemblance of the previous logo whilst removing the controversial Chinese character from it's centre.
